Obtain Police Reports
The Hastings Police Department is a 24/7 service department and currently operates on 12-hour shifts. Our department is the primary investigative agency of all criminal activity, reported or observed suspicious situations, and other calls for service. Barry County Central Dispatch, along with our office, receives these calls and initiates officer response. We work in conjunction with other agencies, such as the Michigan State Police and the Barry County Sheriff’s Department. Our officers also routinely patrol the City in patrol vehicles and on foot.
Each time an officer responds to a call for service or observes an incident, a report number is generated. Officers are responsible for completing initial reports, performing any necessary follow up investigation, and submitting requests for criminal charges to the Barry County Prosecutor’s Office. Requests for ordinance charges are sent to the City Attorney’s Office. If charges are authorized and a court process is initiated, our officers are responsible for testifying when subpoenaed to correlating trials or hearings. All reports are retained in-house. Incident reports can be obtained through the link in the documents box on the right hand side of this page.
Obtain Crash Reports
The Hastings Police Department also investigates all traffic crashes and violations. These investigations may result in civil or criminal charges. All civil infraction citations are forwarded to the District Court. Mandatory crash reporting is completed within 3 business days and forwarded to Lansing. Crash reports can be obtained through the crash report link in the documents box on the right hand side of this page.
