HASTINGS’ FIRST ANNUAL CITIZENS ACADEMY
Have you ever wanted to learn more about your local government? Have you considered running for city council or joining a local board or commission? Do you want to become an ambassador for your community? If so, our new Citizens Academy may be for you.
The Citizens Academy is an eight week program that explores key local government functions such as public services, law enforcement, fire & EMS, revenue, capital planning and expenses, utilities, library, and more. The course includes interactive sessions and tours, each lasting approximately 1.5 hours between January – March 2026.
The course begins January 27, 2026. Enrollment is limited to fifteen participants. You must be 18 years or older. City of Hastings residents are prioritized for enrollment. Apply today!
