Notice of Intent to Fill City Council Vacancy
The City of Hastings seeks candidates who are residents of the Fourth (4th) Ward for appointment to the Hastings City Council. The appointment will be for a partial term ending December 31, 2026, and will need to be reappointed until the nex General Election in November 2028. Ward maps are available on the City’s website at www.hastingsmi.gov.
Interested persons are encouraged to apply for appointment by submitting a letter of intent (cover letter) along with an application form available on the City’s website or at Hastings City Hall. Letters and applications must be completed and returned to City Hall, 201 East State Street, Hastings, MI 49058, by Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at 12:00 PM.
If there are multiple qualified candidates that apply, there will be a Special City Council Meeting on Monday, September 14, 2026, at 6:00 PM in Council Chambers in which the City Council will interview those candidates for appointment.
